Iran Reports Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.

Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
