Red Bull Announces Significant 2026 Driver Line-Up: Hadjar Steps Up, 18-Year-Old Arvid Lindblad Earns Grand Prix Debut.

The Red Bull team has announced a new line-up for the 2026 Grand Prix year, promoting Frenchman Isack Hadjar to its main squad and handing British teenager Arvid Lindblad his first F1 drive.

Lindblad, who comes from a mixed Swedish-Indian background, is set to become team-mate to New Zealander Liam Lawson at the sister squad VCARB.

This driver musical chairs means Japan's Yuki Tsunoda exiting the grid post a half-decade in F1.

The New British Hope

The youngster was identified as a prodigy by Red Bull since he was 12 years old.

Regarding the company's young driver programme, a senior Red Bull figure noted last year that Lindblad "looks really promising", highlighting his "raw pace".

The team prepared a programme since last year to ready Lindblad for his likely Grand Prix bow in 2026, featuring appearances in Grand Prix practice at the British and Mexican races.

Lindblad stated it was a "dream come true", commenting: "2026 will be a big challenge, and I know there's much to understand, but I'm prepared to work closely with the team and meet the challenge. I am incredibly excited to get started."

Lindblad has taken two races in F2 so far this season and is sixth in the championship heading into the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

A Major Opportunity for Hadjar

Hadjar's F1 career began in difficult fashion when he spun out during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. But, since then, he has been one of the stand-out rookies of the year.

His performances included an outstanding top-three result at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he sits in tenth place in the championship.

The team principal said: "Hadjar has displayed impressive growth and demonstrated to be a quick learner. Most importantly, he has the raw speed that is the number one requirement in this sport. We believe he can thrive next to Max."

Hadjar described it "an awesome move" and said he felt "ready".

Tsunoda's Exit

For the seat at Racing Bulls, Red Bull have opted for Lawson instead of Tsunoda.

The New Zealander began the season with the main team but was moved back early in the year. He has found his form at Racing Bulls with some strong performances, persuading Red Bull he merits more time.

The Japanese driver, meanwhile, loses his place after a disappointing season. His highest finish is a P6, and he has accumulated a minor percentage of the team's points total.

These announcements mean that there is also no place on the Red Bull academy for Ireland's Alex Dunne, who will remain in F2 next season.
