Suspected Bondi Beach Gunmen Operated Independently and Did Not Training in the Southeast Asian Nation, Authorities State.

The two suspected attackers responsible for the fatal attack at a Jewish gathering on Bondi Beach, that took 15 lives, reportedly operated independently, as stated by national law enforcement.

Police also confirmed that the 50-year-old Sajid Akram, and his son Naveed Akram travelled to the Philippines on 1 November. Their travel plans included arriving in the main city Manila before traveling onward that same day to Davao City. The duo returned to Sydney on 29 November.

No Evidence of Preparation During Visit

Police assert the pair did not receive any type of terrorist instruction or "logistical preparation" during their time in the Philippines. Initial investigations from local officials indicate they "rarely left" their hotel.

The attack—described as Australia's most severe firearm massacre since 1996—has been officially declared a terrorist incident.

"We are actively reviewing the material," she said, adding that early evaluations show that "the alleged offenders are alleged to have acted alone."

Australian Federal Police Commissioner Krissy Barrett told the press on Tuesday that CCTV footage documenting the alleged gunmen's activities in the Philippines had been submitted to domestic authorities.

"Our investigation shows little to no indication to support the idea these alleged offenders were part of a wider network, or were acting on orders from external parties to carry out an incident," Commissioner Barrett emphasized.

However, the men were likewise not in the Philippines on a leisure trip, the official noted. She emphasized that, as the probe is ongoing, fresh information might emerge.

Ideology and Legal Charges

In prior statements, Australian leader Anthony Albanese commented it looks as though both alleged attackers were "influenced by ISIS" ideology.
