The network's Top New Show of This Year Earns a Major Renewal for Two More Seasons.

During the fall season, the late-night programming block saw the return of its unconventional hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, evoking a cartoon version of a serene talk show. On December 18th, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The series follows three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who found the show and advocated for its distinctly quirky style.

"All of you showed up for this new show, praised it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to help comedy break out of its prevailing sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well help usher in that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to experience the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.
