Vince Zampella, a Gaming Pioneer, Has Died in an LA Vehicle Accident

The visionary game developer, the mind behind the immensely successful franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a traffic collision in California aged 55.

Zampella's death was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio that he helped create.

The influential game designer passed away following his automobile collided and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in LA on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"We are facing an unimaginable loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's family, those closest to him, and all those touched by his legacy," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts commented.
